The Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences program equips students with a comprehensive understanding of biology, including molecular, cellular, organismal, and ecological. Through rigorous coursework and laboratory experiences, the program fosters critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and problem-solving skills. This degree provides students with the skills and credentials required to enter the workforce or pursue graduate studies. The curriculum is aligned to articulate into local graduate programs in biological science, biotechnology, environmental science, physical therapy, and physician assistant.

This degree will require a total of 120 semester credits and be a 2+2 program articulating from the Associate in Arts (AA) degree. All applicants will be required to have an earned associates degree prior to admission to include a total of 36 credits of general education coursework and 24 baccalaureate prerequisite and elective credits. The following required prerequisite courses align with Florida’s Common Prerequisite Manual and must also be completed before being admitted into the program:

MAC 2311   - Analytic Geometry and Calculus I OR MAC 2233  - Survey of Calculus

STA 2023   - Elementary Statistics OR MAC 2312  - Analytic Geometry and Calculus II

PHY 1053  /PHY 1053L  - General Physics I and Laboratory for General Physics I OR PHY 2048  /PHY 2048L  

PHY 1054  /PHY 1054L  - General Physics II and Laboratory for General Physics II OR PHY 2049  /PHY 2049L

Lower-Level Prerequisite Courses

These 30-32 credits are included within the 36 credit hours of general education or within the 44 credit hours of lower-level specialized courses. 

Upper-Level Courses (40 credit hours)


Students must complete all 25 credit hours of upper-level core courses and 15 credit hours of upper-level elective courses.
