EPI 0012 - Foundations of Research - Based Practices in Read III

Prerequisites: EPI 0010  and EPI 0011 
This course ensures teachers demonstrate knowledge of the components of reading, as well as assessments and data analysis. Instruction is grounded in scientifically-based reading research as a mechanism to inform instructional practice. Demonstration and evidence of the application of the knowledge and skills to improve instructional practice and student learning are course requirements. This course requires fifteen (15) hours of field experience/observation in a classroom setting designated by the Office of Teacher Education. Teacher candidates will work directly with students in the public schools in large group, small group, and individual settings to connect all aspects of literacy instruction. This course provides the state of Florida reading endorsement competency 5.
