HIM 2255C - CPT Coding


Credits: 3

Prerequisite or Corequisite: HIM 2723C ​  with a grade of “C” or higher.

This course provides an introduction to the study of Current Procedure Terminology (CPT) Coding. Simulation of outpatient coding, including ambulatory surgery, diagnostic testing and procedures, and physician services using health records. Emphasis is placed on the use of official CPT coding guidelines, compliance and Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) calculations. The student will have hands-on practice using encoder software.
