NUR 2943C - Transitional Nursing


Credits: 4

Prerequisites: NUR 2244C  and NUR 2460C  with a grade of “C” or higher.
This course provides the student with the opportunity to synthesize the concepts of the curriculum in reference to patient care and patient care management. It also offers guidance in adapting to the roles of a graduate nurse. Opportunities are provided which allow the student to enhance their organizational and critical thinking skills under the direction of an instructor and clinical agency preceptor in various acute care, sub-acute care, skilled nursing, and community settings. This course focuses on the higher level of critical thinking. Emphasis is placed on the medical-surgical patient. The student will be able to recognize the normal and abnormal physical and sociological needs of the patient to improve patient outcomes. Advanced development of the concepts of prioritization and delegation of patient care by the nurse will occur as it applies to the care of the adult patients with health care deficits due to disease processes. This course encompasses didactic, lab, simulation, and clinical experiences.
