TPP 2119 - Acting IV

Credits: 3

Prerequisites: TPP 2111  with a grade of “C” or higher.
Beginning with an examination of the nature of “style” itself this course presents actors with an approach to tackling the challenges of the period text. Techniques for unlocking the particular style of a text are explored and then applied to the performance of selected scenes from several different periods: Greek, Elizabethan and Comedy Manners. The course identifies and provides solutions for the acting challenges specific to each of these styles. Additionally, the class explores how the techniques learned in approaching these styles can be more widely applied to other non-realistic styles of theatre.
