PRN 0098C - Practical Nursing Foundations 1 Credits: N/A, Clock Hours: 300
This course provides knowledge related to the healthcare system, healthcare delivery, and healthcare occupations. Students are introduced to the role and ethical/ legal responsibilities of the practical nurse. General concepts of the human body structure and function in relation to the health-illness continuum are discussed. Students will gain an understanding of policies and procedures for safe patient care measures in healthcare. The use of communication skills and technologies in patient care are explored. Emphasis is on the care of the geriatric patient and the nursing process in long-term care settings. Clinical experiences are provided in both a nursing laboratory and various healthcare facilities under faculty supervision.
